Materials: Swiss stone pine; pure wool from the Shetland Islands, knitted and stitched
Inspired by the carved wooden details of older Alpine furniture, Claire-Anne created intricate knitted patterns constructed into 3d using braids and knots that reimagine the familiar form of the Alpine chair.
Casta was commissioned by Happen Projects for the Neu/ Vertraut Exhibtion in St. Morritz Switzerland. Emerging International Designers were asked to respond to the stabelle—a traditional Alpine chair—and explore the formal, cultural and social space occupied by the chair.
Casta has been exhibited at Milan Furniture Fair 2015 and Twisting Traditions at Mint, London Design Festival 2015.
